Chappell Roan is the new Rapunzel, and she’s taking over New York City. In the music video for her new song “Subway,” the singer wears an extremely long wig while chasing her lost lover – the wearer of an equally long lime green wig. Chappell’s signature brand of absurd, surreal humor is on full display in the video, as we watch her luscious locks get trampled by rats, collect trash, and get stuck in a cab door. I love a music video where all the imagery is centered on hair. Sadly, the release of “Subway” doesn’t mean we’re getting a full album any time soon. She told Vogue that it “doesn’t exist yet,” and that she’s “not that type of writer that can pump it out.”
