Here’s an evocative dichotomy regarding celebs speaking out (or not) about ICE’s occupation of our cities. “Be kind to one another” Ellen DeGeneres made an insane birthday post a few days ago that I have to share. On Instagram, she wrote, “It’s a tough day to feel like celebrating a birthday. I’m holding space for what’s happening in our world and holding close what I’m grateful for. Like my wife. And cookies.” I can’t believe how out of touch and useless her statement is — holding space for what’s happening in our world???? Okay Cynthia Erivo interviewer Tracy Gilchrist. Meanwhile, Hacks star Hannah Einbinder actually took to Instagram to say something of import, using Holocaust Remembrance Day as an impetus to discuss the importance of fighting back against ICE and not staying silent in the face of fascism.
